The Assassination of Gaddafi

by grtv
The killing of Muammar Gaddafi at the hands of NATO-backed, Al Qaeda-linked forces marks the end of a campaign expressly aimed at the assassination of a head of state and overthrow of a sovereign country in direct violation of international standards that have held sway since the Nuremberg trials at the end of World War II and the establishment of the Geneva Conventions.

The NATO campaign, known as “Operation Unified Protector,” was a continuation of the US-led Operation Odyssey Dawn. It formally began on March 23rd, 2011 and was ostensibly an operation to enforce United Nations Security Council resolution 1973. From the outset, the NATO coalition partners insisted that the aim of the mission was not to assist a rebel insurgency in overthrowing the Gaddafi government, but to “protect civilians” in accordance with UN resolutions.

The real intention of the operation was revealed shortly thereafter, however, in a joint op-ed in the pages of the International Herald Tribune penned by Obama, Cameron and Sarkozy:

“Our duty and our mandate under U.N. Security Council Resolution 1973 is to protect civilians, and we are doing that. It is not to remove Qaddafi by force,” they wrote in their editorial. “But it is impossible to imagine a future for Libya with Qaddafi in power.[…]It is unthinkable that someone who has tried to massacre his own people can play a part in their future government.”

Within a month, the true aim of the intervention to assassinate Gaddafi was confirmed when NATO forces bombed the personal residence of Saif Al-Arab Gaddafi, Muammar’s youngest son in an admitted attempt to kill the Libyan leader himself. While Gaddafi himself was not caught in the strike, his son and three of his grandchildren were killed in the bombing.

Now it is confirmed that the strike that resulted in the death of Gaddafi was initiated, organized, coordinated and led by NATO and SAS forces. The attack began when Gaddafi was fleeing Sirte in a convoy of 75 vehicles. Drone pilots at Creech Air Force base in Nevada launched a round of Hellfire missiles from a Predator drone aircraft, destroying the lead vehicle and prompting a French bomber to release two laser-guided 500 pound bombs into the centre of the convoy. British SAS troops, meanwhile, coordinated the ground forces that eventually captured Gaddafi.

The news of Gaddafi’s death was greeted with elation by NATO leaders around the world and echoed by pundits and talking heads of every political persuasion. The ostensible justification for the entire campaign, however, the charge that Gaddafi was engaged in a “massacre” of his own people, has since been shown to be based on falsehoods, misrepresentations, and undocumented allegations.

Find out more about the death of Gaddafi and the gears of the international “justice” system that was out to convict him from the start in this week’s GRTV Backgrounder.

Bob Marshall says:
It was unfortunate for Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya that America is so full of sheepe. millions who are incapable of thinking for themselves so they let the Washington think-tanks think for them. ‘America buys war like children gobble candy.” Henry Kissenger. http://www.addictedtowar.com If ignorance was a blessing, America would be the most blessed nation on earth. the US Center for Disease and Control stated that an estimated 150 million American citizens suffer some form of mental illness during their life time. A nation with that many who have mental problems are easily led like cattle to a slaughter. A nation who has less than 35% professed to be Christian.

Could not agree more with Mr. Marshall’s post. Throughout Americas history, its leaders have always been sociopathic. Presently, with most citizens glued to reality tv or filling their shopping carts with Chinese junk from Wal Mart, our evil leaders have dropped all appearances of civility, honesty and decency. They have become insects.

Matt Cusumano says:
I’m really troubled by the fact that Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain, and so many other people are so excited about the fact that Muammar Gadaffi was brutally assassinated. The thing that really burns me up is when Obama tries to equivocate the event by saying that he died “the same way his victims” died. I don’t believe this to be the case. I can’t find any evidence that Gadaffi had “victims” of any kind. As a matter of fact, all I can find about Gadaffi is that he was a man of his people. A man who took Libya out of abject, colonial poverty, and turned it into a totally self-sufficient, prosperous, happy nation of well educated, well fed, and medically well cared for people.
I cannot find evidence that Gadaffi was part or party to any terrorist actions. I have found that the lockerbee conviction was a total fraud. What’s worse is that the scottish appeals court said the same thing, yet still…we have to hear that Gadaffi was responsible for lockerbee. This is a total lie, that’s maliciously repeated over and over again. Same with the Berlin disco bombing, which has been proven to have been perpetrated by a member of the Mossad..yet still…mainstream media constantly tells us that it was Gadaffi. Even the media talking heads who appear to sympathize with Gadaffi peddle these lies.
Just the other day I heard one “sympathetic” voice on BBC who was “hoping” Saif Al Islam would make it to the ICC, even though he would certainly be convicted of many crimes against humanity, and of course he could probably be prosecuted for the Lockerbee bombing…the BBC host didn’t bother to tell the guest that Saif Al Islam was only about 15 at the time of Lockerbee…but still these lies get into the public’s conscience.
Gadaffi was and still is a HERO! A man of his people. A man who stood up to the international cabal of bankers.

This video provides an excellent overview of the events that transpired in Libya. What is so frightening is how efficient the globalist war propaganda machine worked in this criminal operation. The entire world was deceived, institutions were corrupted, and a functioning sovereign direct democracy that was the Libyan Jamahariya was utterly and totally destroyed as a result.
These militant globalists will be forever empowered by what they’ve done in Libya. The NTC knows that they don’t stand a chance of holding onto power in Libya, so they are already abdicating their obligations as the new so called “government” by asking Nato to stay on as enforcers for the foreseeable future. Can you imagine a government so illegitimate that it must ask for the foreign powers to stay on to ensure they are not immediately thrown out?
Libyan’s are not stupid, they are waiting, bidding their time until Nato is out, then they will uncerimonially throw the rats out.

Very excellent and powerful report by James! I don’t see how it could be improved upon …, not even a little. It’s excellent.

And I’m glad to not be of a viewpoint that could lead to debate with James, for he’s solidly based in what he says. He isn’t based on sand, but rather rock solid foundation.

He and GR make a good team.

Probably, anyway. The US would definitely be a top challenger for being awarded that title, anyway. And the strongest probability is that the US would “win” that title, deservedly ; if ignorance truly was bliss to be welcomed, which it most definitely isn’t.

Mark wrote : “Presently, with most citizens glued to reality tv or filling their shopping carts with Chinese junk from Wal Mart, our evil leaders have dropped all appearances of civility, honesty and decency. They have become insects.”

No. We have good predatory insects and nuisance insects, and our “leaders” are neither good, nor mere nuisance or pest. Our “leaders” are evil you said, and not even nuisance insects are that bad, while our “leaders” are.

Semantics, say.

Assassination of Gaddafi Part of Global Regime Change

As some European leaders demonstrate a celebratory mood over the violent death of Colonel Gaddafi, they are no less terrorists themselves, claims international consultant and author Adrian Salbuchi.

Salbuchi said Gaddafi’s death was undoubtedly a message for the whole world, as it is not just about Libya.

“We are seeing how Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State expressed it very clearly: ‘We came, we saw, he died,’ and then started laughing. This is a message to the world of how this new world order model actually works,” he stated. “When they decide to change the regime, they do so with the utmost violence, and it is a whole model. First they target a country by calling it a rogue state; then they support local terrorists and call them freedom fighters; then they bring death and destruction upon civilians and they call it UN sanctions. Then they spread lies and call it the International Community’s opinion expressed by the Western media. Then they invade and control the country and call it liberation and finally they steal appetizing oil and call it foreign investment and reconstruction,” Salbuchi explained.

At the moment Western powers are hailing a democratic future for Libya. When Saddam Hussein was captured in 2003 the US also thought it was all over – but it had only just begun. And according to Salbuchi, it is going to be the same, or even worse, for Libya.

“I think one of the reasons why Gaddafi’s country has been invaded and he has been killed is because he had plans to introduce the gold dinar as a golden currency that could very easily have become a major currency at least in North Africa and in the oil market,” he said.

“Don’t forget Libya has the ninth-largest oil reserve in the world and the main oil reserve in all of Africa, so I think this definitely smells of oil and greed on the part of Western companies. They are just using this to justify they have supported the worst terrorists probably because in the White House and Palais de l’Élysée in France, and at 10 Downing Street, we also have very high-class terrorists and mafias running those countries and the better part of the world,” he pointed out.

He added the US, France, Britain and NATO should be held accountable for the sectarian violence, should it take place in Libya.

“In any country, Libya included, there is always about a half of the population that is against the ongoing government. Should we also be invading Greece because of the way they are handling their own internal divisions?” he posited.

A rebel-assisted victory in Libya will not mark the end of NATO’s interest in the country, Salbuchi emphasized.

“This is just the beginning and part of global regime change. This means orange alert for Venezuela, Bolivia and Ecuador and definitely red alert for Syria and Iran. This is the kind of democracy US, France and Britain want for the whole world,” he concluded.

RECALL HOW IN IRAQ- THE CLAIM WAS THEY’D FOUND WMDs- NOW THE CLAIM IS- THERE ARE NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN SYRIA- I HAVE NEWS FOR NATOs CAMERON SARKOZY AND OBAMA- ISRAEL HAS NUCLEAR WEAPONS- POINTING AT EUROPE-SORT IT!

One response to “The Assassination of Gaddafi

  1. “A brutal, gratuitous slaying” John Robles

Interview with Rick Rozoff, the manager of the Stop NATO website and mailing list and contributing writer to http://www.globalresearch.ca.

How are you today, Mr. Rozoff?

Rather distressed by the news of this morning. Or yesterday morning in your case.

Ok, what is your first impression?

It was a brutal, gratuitous slaying of an almost 70-year-old man, killed after being captured. And if the intent of 216 days of NATO bombing was to kill him in the first place, which is clearly the case, with the multiple bombings of his compound in Tripoli, which in one case killed one of his sons and three grandchildren, it is clearly targeted killing and I suppose NATO can now claim success. It has got what it wanted.

President Barack Obama said that there is going to be a pull-out from Libya very soon, so in your mind does that mean the objective has been met?

Yes, it has entirely. Regime change, take-over of Africa’s largest oil reserves, the incorporation of Libya, which hitherto had been the only North African country that was not a member of NATO’s so-called Mediterranean Dialogue, into what is now according to Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen a military partnership with the North Atlantic Alliance…So in every sense their objective has been accomplished. It’s certainly nothing that is going to benefit the Libyan people.

You don’t see this as being justice for the oppressed Libyan people? I mean there are people saying that Gaddafi was a terrible guy. He killed thousands so he deserved to die.

There is just so much – what term do I want to use? – low taste, gratuitous reveling in the murder of this man, who was born 70 years ago in the very city he was murdered in on the 216th day of NATO’s bombing of his country. He was born under Italian Fascist occupation and he died under NATO occupation. I think the parallel there can’t be missed, including the fact that Italy supplied some of the warplanes that have devastated his country since the middle of March, since March 19th. If he was the monster they’ve portrayed him as being – and I invite your listeners to go to the NATO website and see some of the crude caricatures of Gaddafi they’ve posted over the last few days – wall graffiti and so forth – portraying him in a demeaning and belittling way, to further dehumanize him preparatory to murdering him.

Alright, I saw some television coverage of his naked body being thrown around like a piece of meat. I am sorry for the expression.

Yes, after they brought him to Misrata. This is sickening, barbaric and worse than barbaric treatment and it’s in a long line of similar travesties. This is true with Slobodan Milosevic in Yugoslavia and Saddam Hussein in Iraq, with any leader of a country that doesn’t kow-tow entirely. I am not putting all these people in the same basket. Let’s rephrase that. Any leader whose time has come according to the United States and NATO can expect death. Hussein was hanged, Gaddafi was shot. Whereas Gaddafi was considered to be – he was only nominally so, but he was considered to be – the head of state and even the head of the military, and the bombing of his private residences under the guise of their being command and control centers suggests that he was considered by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to be in charge of the Libyan military, when he was captured on Thursday his treatment was governed by the Geneva Conventions, but instead he was shot through the head and murdered. This is the new regime that is being implanted in Libya, and for all the West’s talk of the rule of law and humanitarian concerns and so forth this is a graphic image of its true intentions, just like the death of Slobodan Milosevic in a veritable dungeon in the Netherlands because he was denied proper medical treatment in Russia, and the grotesque hanging of Saddam Hussein. This is the image of the new world order, a world order in all its transparent barbarism.

What do you mean he was denied medical treatment in Russia?

Russia offered to make a deal with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia to bring Slobodan Milosevic to Moscow for medical treatment, but he was denied that opportunity and he died shortly thereafter. Even more foul play may have been involved but the message is very clear.

Do you see a pattern, I am sorry to interrupt you there. Do you see a pattern here, I am sure you do, between Hussein, Osama Bin Laden and now Gaddafi? I mean, we have countries, for example, Hussein and Gaddafi, they pretty much stopped their weapons’ programs. They cooperated with the CIA, in this case from what I’ve heard, and it’s pretty much a given, Gaddafi was assisting the war on terror fight by the United States by allowing rendition flights to Libya. He stopped his weapons programs. Do you see a pattern here?

Yes, there’s a very clear pattern. That the United States and the North Atlantic allance use somebody for whatever purpose they want to and then get rid of them and kill them afterwards. Slobodan Milosevic, at political risk to himself inside at that time the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, played a role in negotiating an end to the armed hostilities in Bosnia, in gratitude for which his country was bombed for 78 days in 1999 by the United States and its NATO allies and subsequently he was left to die in prison.

He had a deal with the CIA, I think, it came out, and I think that it’s pretty much a part of the public record that he believed that he was going to be protected.

I don’t know the details about that but at the end of the day what we see is there are a lot of corpses and we see the killings of heads of state. We have to recall that again, even though he was a titular, a nominal, head of state, Muammar Gaddafi was the longest reigning leader in the world. He is was last personal link – since Fidel Castro retired as president of Cuba – between the post-World War II national liberation struggles and the emergence of new nations during the Cold War era and the post-Cold War era that issued in NATO as an international military strike force that can topple governments at will around the world. NATO boasts on its website as of today of flying over 26,000 air missions over a country of six million people, with well over 9,000 of those being combat sorties. So this monster has been unleashed over the last 20 years and Libya will not be the last country so targeted. That you can be assured of.

What do you think is going to happen next?

I don’t know if Libya is able to be put back together again. The Western powers incited regional and tribal differences in order to topple the former Gaddafi government, and believing you can put that genie back in the bottle is overly optimistic – and disingenuous. With the military commander of the National Transitional Council [Abdel Hakim Belhaj] being somebody the United States incarcerated and interrogated as part of its “extraordinary rendition” program and a former fighter in Afghanistan, past leader of the so-called Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, you have al-Qaeda elements and tribal separatists – they’ve created real pandemonium here and now they claim that they want to stabilize Libya. I don’t see it happening. At the end of the day, with the alleged no-fly zone and humanitarian intervention, NATO has transparently waged a war against a government on behalf of insurgents, period. This was clearly the intent from the beginning and now it’s proven successful.
