Deliberate Impoverishment of the Western World

Deliberate Impoverishment of the Western World

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 – by Staff Report

U.S. poverty totals hit a 50-year high Census Bureau’s grim statistics show recession’s lingering effects, as young adults move back home and 1 million more Americans go without health insurance … In a grim portrait of a nation in economic turmoil, the government reported that the number of people living in poverty last year surged to 46.2 million — the most in at least half a century — as 1 million more Americans went without health insurance and household incomes fell sharply. – Los Angeles Times

Dominant Social Theme: These things happen. No reason. Depressions spontaneously occur. They are “market mistakes.”

Free-Market Analysis: We’ve spent considerable time in the past three years (the past decade, actually), analyzing how the powers-that-be have reorganized society, especially American society, in a way that relentlessly reduces prosperity. Figures released yesterday from the US Census provide a startling illustration of just how effective elites have been. (See excerpt above.)

Why would a handful of wealthy central banking families want to impoverish the US and render its citizens penniless? Our conclusion is simple: World government is on the way and the American culture is still resistant to the kind of hyper-regulatory corporatism that is necessary to support this kind of governance.

America (the West, generally) has apparently been under attack by an organized cabal of inter-generational banking families and corporate, business and military enablers for at least 200 years now, and perhaps 300 years. In the past 50 years, the pace has accelerated.

One by one, the UN, IMF, World Bank, BIS, ICC (international court), WHO and countless other globalist organizations have been put in place. The mainstream media treats this evolution as inevitable. It cannot be. Each evolution must be planned, funded and promoted. When it comes to politics of this sort, there are no coincidences, as FDR once observed.

We have taken to calling what has evolved “directed history” – in which events including wars are planned to ensure maximum destruction of the culture as it is in order to further militarize, globalize (and impoverish) what remains.

Because America was a “great exception” – founded as a republic with a culture that was relentlessly entrepreneurial and agricultural – America has been under sustained attack to ensure that its culture is Europeanized and recreated as what we call “regulatory democracy.”

Regulatory democracy is one word for what has evolved. Corporatism is another. Fascism (of a sort) would be a third. No matter what word is used, the current Western model for nation states relies heavily on unelected bureaucrats, intelligence agencies and a military industrial complex that basically reports to the aforementioned elites and is not affected by voting or other democratic elements.

The modern nation state is funded by central banks, also seemingly controlled by these elite families, and the ultimate goal is formal global governance. Some question why a formal international government is necessary. The answer is that the elites like to work within a “lawful” environment of their own creation. The more that reality corresponds to their notions and plans, the easier it is to continually consolidate power.

Nothing else – no other sociopolitical model – seems to explain what has happened to America and Europe. The EU is a disaster and the euro has proven to be a currency that has brought ruin on the Southern crescent of that artificial entity. The one-size-fits all central banking policies of the union continue to collapse jobs and economies – something we’ve been forecasting for several years now.

European elites are on record as anticipating the disaster and welcoming it because it will allow for the creation a closer “political union.” But in the Internet era, people are not so easily manipulated as they were in the 20th Century. The pushback to elite plans is extreme. The fate of the EU is by no means pre-determined. Events could easily spin out of control.

In the US, the great merger between Canada, Mexico and America has been all-but-abandoned – for the time being. However, one of the primary figures behind that putative merger is Texas governor Rick Perry who spent much time and political energy in the early 2000s trying create a “North American Union.” In our view it is no accident that he is a front-runner for the presidency at this juncture.

The Rick Perry story is certainly illustrative of how the elites work. Perry actively supported a superhighway of some 20 lanes plus railroad tracks that was (and is) planned to bisect the US, running from Mexico to Canada. It would effectively turn the country into two separate halves, both of which would be economic backwaters, as trade and prosperity flowed between Canada and Mexico.

Perry also supported a kind of international health-care in which the US would subsidize medical treatments for Mexicans. He tried to portray this as a rare opportunity to address flaws in the health care system that a bi-national program would counteract. But in reality, it was more internationalism.

Perry was and is a globalist; he is likely a candidate of the elites and it is perhaps no coincidence that he is suddenly a leading GOP choice to run for president. Perry’s globalist sympathies were so evident in Texas that he had to write a book renouncing them.

In his book, from what we can tell, he basically repurposes most if not all of libertarian presidential candidate Ron Paul’s message of small government and reliance on the private sector. Perry’s statements were so extreme, however, that he has made himself a target on both sides of the aisle.

Perry is just one more unmoored and unprincipled politician, willing to undermine his country and its hundreds of millions for personal gain. (Some have compared him to a used car salesman and claimed in another, less corrupt era he would never have achieved his current position.) He has become a millionaire several times over during his political career, and no doubt millions more await him if he does by some chance become president.

Meanwhile, the larger American economy continues to suffer. Critics in the mainstream media will have plenty of explanations for how their country came to be in the shape that it is in. But from our humble perspective, there can only be one explanation; it’s part of a larger plan, at least to some degree. Here’s some more from the article, above:

The poverty rate for all Americans rose in 2010 for the third consecutive year, matching the 15.1% figure in 1993 and pushing many more young adults to double up or return to their parents’ home to avoid joining the ranks of the poor. Taken together, the annual income and poverty snapshot released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau underscored how the recession is casting a long shadow well after its official end in June 2009 …

The total number of Americans who fell below the official poverty line last year rose from 43.6 million in 2009. Of the 2.6-million increase, about two-thirds of the people said they did not work even one week last year. Those with jobs were much less likely to be poor, but the recession and weak recovery have wiped out income gains of prior years for a broad spectrum of workers and their families.

Inflation-adjusted median household income — the middle of the populace — fell 2.3% to $49,445 last year from a year ago and 7% from 2000. “It’s a lost decade for the middle class,” said Sheldon Danziger, a poverty expert at the University of Michigan. The number of poor children younger than 18 reached its highest level since 1962, said William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution.

This is an unmitigated disaster, and it is hitting young people the hardest. Overall, the number of 25- to 34-year-old men and women who were living with their parents last spring totaled 5.9 million, the article tells us, and this is a 25.5% increase since the recession began in 2007.

Of course, we note the words that are used in the article to describe the current conflagration, specifically the “R” word, recession. This is no recession, from what we can tell. Nor has there been a “weak recovery.”

With 50 million or so Americans relying on food stamps and unemployment realistically hovering at least in the 20 percent area (we think its closer to 30 percent), one can use any words one wants to – even “banana” – but a depression is a depression.

The elites, of course, fear depression. While it is important to remove prosperity from people’s lives in order to make them malleable, too much hardship can cause social chaos and the kind of pushback that puts “civilized” institutions at risk. During the Great Depression, the elites were most worried about armed insurrection in America and Europe, especially because there were so many young men with military experience as a result of World War One.

But depression is the logical outcome of the economic system now in place throughout the West. Driven by central bank fiat money divorced from underlying value, powered by taxes, visible and invisible, that take up to 50 percent of the average person’s income, and rigorously controlled by a blizzard of incomprehensible and destructive regulations, the system in place now is Babylonian in its devious intricacy and seemingly beyond redemption.

Add in five or six regional wars in the Middle East and Africa (with more doubtless coming) and the general militarization of the population and the larger model of corporatism, and the results become clear. The economy of the West has been so distorted that price signals are simply not available. No one knows what to invest in because government subsidies, regulation and fiat money have made it impossible to tell a healthy enterprise from a fraudulent one.

There is an easy way out of the depression that is gradually lengthening over the West like a malevolent shadow. Return to free and unregulated markets, disband central banks and let money freely compete and circulate, especially gold and silver.

Stop distorting the economy with endless government fixes, phony wars and the saddlingof the larger culture with the inevitable failing prescriptions of “wise men.” These are simple solutions. They have worked in the past and sooner or later they will work again. The elites, as powerful as they are, cannot forever hold back the logic of the larger market.

It is, in fact, inevitable in our view. In this era of the Internet Reformation, it is likely impossible for the elites to fully complete their globalist campaign. Too much is known about what’s planned and as a result, the great families are turning more and more (ineffectively) to repression, wiretapping and violence to achieve their ends.

Conclusion: This is evidence of the weakness of their position and we have seen no evidence that their situation can much improve either in the long or short term. In the 21st Century we would tend to believe that people may not prove so malleable as the elite has hoped. The Internet Reformation proceeds apace, bringing to the West more and more that is unexpected and hard to control. Directed history is harder and harder to implement. “Things fall apart,” novelist Chinua Achebe once observed. Not just in Africa.

Womankind, mankind: labels. People are just people. I don’t associate with most groups.

I wonder, though, in spite of the desire to disassociate from the criminal political practices of the predatory government, just how predatory the gov’t would be if more people had not abandoned their opportunity to vote for an honest representative. “Evil rules when good men do nothing.” (Or something close to that.)

Yes, the arbitrary power of the government is turning the rule of law on its head. Yes, voting another representative to a criminal enterprise seems futile. But, if all of the people who now abstain from voting could all stand up, couldn’t we try to overturn the criminal system?

Or, are you saying that the only choice is the anarchist? While, ideally, I do believe the anarchist is correct, it will always result in the necessity of a rule of law, less someone elses definition of freedom differs from mine.

So, a rule of law that is upheld, with protection of private property, and certain individual liberties seems the best we can hope for on this earth. Do we just quit trying because the predators have taken over?

Just say no. Keep you productivity at 1.0, or, if you lack moral awareness (no personal allegation), make them pay for your appeasement (socialist vote). Leave no excess to attract predators, nor to contribute to their criminal activities. Make any of their attempted coups against you and yours unprofitable. That’ll learn ’em, as it has for all of history and is, NOW:

Sadly, it’s increasingly evident that “directed history” has been fairly successful these past hundreds of years. I hope DB is correct & that the Internet Revolution, with the nearly instantaneous exchange of uncensored information & ideas, will make the masses less malleable so as to avoid a One World Order & One World (fiat) Currency. I think that voters yesterday took a stand against Obama’s obviously failing bigger government, Keynesian economics agenda. That happened in spite of most mainstream media still supporting Obama & spinning the news in his favor. Eventually bad ideas fail, whether or not the masses are aware of why they fail.

as to “keep the right to vote”

This is not a male / female voter competence question. It is more a matter of “vote for what?”. Voters, for example, lacking the legal power to be individual criminals CANNOT legitimately delegate the power to be criminals (initiate aggression, nor unaccountability) to politicians and states.

IMHO, when the power of democracy is not limited to common interest (ALL are equally affected and benefit / pay) by the law objectively dealing with “democratic excesses” by insuring “all are equally subject to law, in terms of measurable rights and responsibilities”, then, you have “rule by divide and conquer”, arbitrary power profiting by creating and pretending to mitigate inter-group conflict. The Nazis are a prime example of where this does and must lead, as are current events, also based on “groupthink”, judging others by the group they are assigned to.

As an individual, there is no need to defend yourself for the actions of others, including the meaningless collective “womankind”.

Called the “Cloward-Piven Strategy”. Taken from 1965 THE NATION magazine article by two Columbia U. communist professors (married). Look it up! Most important article of 20th century as “Progressives” have embraced it joining with uber-elite, super rich, super powerful etc. all with same goal. World domination. Destruction of middle class is a must. CP strategy is BEST QUICKEST way to do this. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both declared “I am a Progressive!” in 2008 campaign. No one looked up “Progressive” much less discovered Cloward-Piven! Should have! Would have saved world from current path of destruction. See Wikipedia.

“all with same goal”

The ancestors of the superrich and powerful used the (now judicially subverted / rationalized away) opportunities of freedom and free enterprise to achieve their positions, which their insane, inbred and undeserving progeny have inherited. While striving to be so, they were all for freedom and “rule of law”, the environment required for opportunities to individually / collectively survive and thrive.

Once they achieved this security, they also underwent an environmental transition where their perceived survival considerations were no longer dependent on freedom and the “rule of law” but on consolidating their positions and ensuring ZERO competition: destroy freedom and “rule of law”.

That is what has happened. Perceived environment determines EVERYTHING (yep, Darwin again):

OK, good point. But it is NOT being DRIVEN by progressives. They are mere enablers. What’s going on is being driven and funded by an inter-generational, familial power elite that inflicts its agenda on the Western world via the overwhelming (and ephemeral) wealth generated by central banking.

Of course I was joking about the coward part but your subsequent point is well stated. I would substitute your brave/coward with aware/unaware.

I am constantly bemused by the inability of some very smart people to not see what to me is blatantly obvious ( the real status quo) and I believe that it does not require any special intelligence.

I am sure there is no general answer, but for me, it is the peace of mind of not being “part of the problem”. Mirrors can be quite accusatory, you know. Ignore them and, end up fighting yourself and rationalizing your sorry existance.

Strong evidences supporting the idea that the U.S. is being purposely impoverished are:
1. Gibson Guitar’s government harassment… though it could be politically motivated. Does the “party in power” run “protection rackets” for campaign contributions? (Just asking this question paints me as… “very naive.”)
2. The Gulf of Mexico “drilling moratorium.” (100,000+ people out of work for absolutely no valid reason!)
3. The proposed “Trans-Continental Super-Highway” is the easiest way to break the westcoast longshoremen’s union and the use of Mexican nationals for container hauling into the U.S. will certainly drive down the pay of truck drivers… which is one of the last “half-way” decent paying jobs still available to the working middle-class.

Yes, it certainly appears that the NWO/PTB’s agenda is America’s financial destruction. A prosperous middle-class was America’s biggest strength!

Okay. Throw out the lure! But, that really is just too much. You know the line… there are two kinds of people in this world..etc. I have observed the most prevalent characteristic is that of emotional vs rational. Many people, both men and women, react emotionally and draw conclusions based upon their feelings, not through reason or logic. Others have learned to think before coming to a conclusion. This has nothing to do with male vs female, rather educated in analytical thinking. Analysis and logic have been stripped from the American education system, deliberately.

So, please allow that there are both men and women who feel their way through life, mostly in fear. It is fear that makes anyone vulnerable. Fear keeps most people in place.

Acquit me, please. I am a woman, and I think and reason and study, and I’d like to keep the right to vote.

“The answer is that the elites like to work within a “lawful” environment of their own creation. ”

This is puzzling. The PE believe they are better able to direct and control the “lower classes”. They believe the rules and regulations they promote and implement are not meant for them. They practice genocide, manipulate governments, deal in murder, steal from those less fortunate. There seem to be no limits to their evil conduct.

Why would they adhere to any system of rules at all?

They don’t adhere. They “work within.” Perception is what they are after, not reality.

Hey, I wasn’t dissing females, just pointing out an influential fact of female existence which needs to be acknowledged and overcome. I happen to be married to a fine female whom I see eye to eye with who also knows: emotion follows reason, not the converse which is, in reality: rationalizations follow emotions.

A more exhaustive proof (not male / female, but reason / emotion) here:

That was the point I was hinting at but being a coward threw it out and knew that you would take it and run-ha!

Seriously, I read at another site that I am sure you are familiar with a commentary back and forth (911 theme) where the guys were trading stories on how they couldn’t get through to their wives that the Patriot Act, increased surveillance, TSA etc were instruments of a police state.
They were constantly stonewalled by the nauseating illogic of ” if that is what it takes to keep us safe from terrorists, then so be it” and the equally horrible ” if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about”.
The guys concluded that the real demise of Western civilization was when women were allowed to vote. Bernays and scoundrels of his ilk deal in the science of emotions. Safety for the home trumps liberty.

There is truth to this and real women would agree. I could go on at length but always remember a signature event in my readings when Ted Kennedy was planning strategy with his team in a difficult Senatorial campaign. He instructed them to get him a much television exposure as possible to ” sew up the female vote”.
Policy? We don’t need no stinking policy. Flash them the pearly whites and they will pull the lever for you.

“but being a coward”

I am well past the tipping point of unambiguously concluding that “going along, to get along” is a much more certain and shorter path to doom than the chance of survival of adopting the defensive “full spectrum defiance” stance.

Its not about brave / coward. It is about survival and, if not there yet, you and many others are on the verge of tipping either over the cliff of collective doom or, into the unknown realm of determined self-determination and freedom.

And, sure you know intellectually – Freedom EQUALS Survival:

Exactly right and day by day the DB is helping to expose it. Not knowing much about Rick Perry except he attended Bilderberg meetings in the past, I was already skeptical of him & now much more so if he was key in pushing for a “North American Union”.

I’m not looking forward for possibly exchanging one puppet President for another. We desperately need to return to a much smaller, limited Constitutional government, end the Federal Reserve, return to sound money, end the “czars”, repeal ObamaCare, cut regulations, eliminate the IRS & go to a much simpler tax code while not only cutting taxes overall, but balancing the budget. Stop the out-of-control welfare/warfare state, return the troops home, close 800+ bases in 130+ countries around the world & mind our own business while guarding our own borders much better.

We are presently pursuing unsustainable & unwise policies at present that only seem to make the problems worse. Most Americans still have not woken up, but our present failing policies are becoming ever more evident and harder to deny.

What a difference three years make.
The September 2008 daylight robbery on (wailing) Wall Street not only hammered into me that the end-game had begun but stopped my business cold.
At that time I was convinced that the major assault on the middle class was underway, not with the sneaky night attacks that were gradually turning this once robust segment of society into working poor but in fact a full frontal assault.

Still I was wary of making this comment in mixed company. Too many times I got crooked looks and no doubt the monicker of “kook” behind closed doors. Oddly enough it was the female of the species that was more eager to pass this judgement. The guys, though not in total agreement would have enough experience felt on their skin (regulations, unreasonable encounters with peace officers etc..) to entertain the notion.

Perhaps the radical transformations taking place have an emotional component that I had overlooked (obviously). Vive la difference.
Be that as it may, the demise of the middle class is now on everyones lips from the top politicos to the common man. Ever slippery, the PTB judo moved this issue into another dragon they will and must slay (with paper).
As always I am not happy about being right.
Cheers-

“Oddly enough it was the female of the species that was more eager to pass this judgment.”

Believe this is an evolutionary adaptation. Statistically, females are smaller, weaker and, as a consequence, more vulnerable to be socialized to subservience.

This makes them more prone to defer to arbitrary power and less likely to use force to achieve their goals. Therefore, females, compared to males are more inclined to use both fraud (manipulative) and honest, mutually agreed trade in their goal seeking.

Ladies: Not dissing you, just pointing out obvious facts you need to consider in your quests for freedom and self-determination.

Trilateral Commission: Founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, Zbigniew Brzezinski, and other leaders of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bilderberg Group, the Trilateral Commission is a non-governmental organization composed of 350 representatives of Japan, the European Union Countries, and North America (United States, Canada and, recently-added, Mexico).

According to the late Senator Barry Goldwater, the Trilateral Commission is a “vehicle for multinational consolidation of commercial and banking interests” into the hands of the One World Government. Even though it has a website on the internet and appears open and obvious, it is a part of the clandestine One World Government plan to rule the world.

David Rockefeller sneers at those who say the Trilateral Commission is part of a grand conspiracy to take over the whole world, but he has stated in speeches to Congress that the average citizen of the U.S., or any country, does not have the brains or ability to make the proper decisions about anything, including their own life, therefore, the elite, like Rockefeller and his friends, have the right and the obligation to run the world and everyone in it.

Universal Restoration vs Universalism: The Doctrine of Universal Restoration states that eventually God will save everyone – but only after they have reaped what they have sown. He will save them FROM their sins, NOT IN their sins. There are over 100 texts in the Bible that support this doctrine. (See “What Happens at the Judgment?”)

On the other hand, the Doctrine of Universalism states that God will save everyone, no matter how they behave. God will save them IN their sins. In other words, Universalists believe that God will not require that sinners stop sinning and become changed into the image of God. They believe that God has no standards – anything is acceptable! This is a blatantly UNBIBILICAL doctrine.

Wicca and Witchcraft: Wicca and witchcraft are interchangeable terms. They both refer to a pagan, earth-centered religion. In wicca or witchcraft, the earth – the creation – is worshipped, whereas in Christianity, the Creator is worshipped.

There are various levels of witchcraft, from the festivals and seasonal days of celebration – to outright Satanism, the worship of Satan. But all levels deny the Creator, and, instead, worship the creation. One has to pick his master: God or Satan. If one is not worshiping God, the Creator, then he is worshiping Satan, while holding the illusion that he is worshiping the earth and nature.

The ancient Celtic Druids who practiced witchcraft were involved in casting evil spells as well as offering human sacrifices. The more one becomes involved at any level of wicca or witchcraft, the more he or she will come under the control of Satan. This is serious business, particularly now that witchcraft has become the “trendy” subject modern-day fantasy novels, such as the Harry Potter books, and the TV programs Sabrina, Bewitched, Charmed, etc. The use of psychics, ouija boards, the casting of spells, and movies about witchcraft and other aspects of the occult, are all dangerous as they open the door to control of the individual by evil forces.

Practitioners of these various levels of wicca/witchcraft will deny the accuracy of this analysis, claiming that their practices are benign, but they are unaware of the dangers they are courting.

Some who practice wicca contend that they are “white” witches, claiming to cast only “good” spells. But there is no difference between “white” witches and “black” witches, according to Satanists, including Anton LaVey, the late leader of the Church of Satan. ALL spells are evil because they attempt to control another person’s life.

World Health Organization: The World Health Organization (WHO), established in 1948, is the U.N. System’s authority on international public health issues. It is advertised as the organization that assists governments in improving national health services and in establishing worldwide standards for foods, chemicals, and biological and pharmaceutical products. WHO supposedly concentrates on preventive rather than curative programs, including efforts to eradicate endemic and other widespread diseases, stabilize population growth, improve nutrition, sanitation, and maternal and child care.

But in reality, the World Health Organization is the “euthanasia” arm of the United Nations.

The United Nations is in the hands of Jewish Zionists, for example:

*The wife of the U.N. Secretary-General Koffi Annan, is a Jew, the niece of Raoul Wallenberg, a member of the industrialist and banking Wallenberg clan. And it is possible that Annan, himself, is a Jew.

*Hans Blix, the UN Chief Weapons Inspector whose information about Iraqi supposed “weapons of mass destruction” was instrumental in the decision by the U.S. (Neo-cons) administration to invade Iraq, is Jewish.

*Boutros-Boutros Ghali, the former Secretary General of the United Nations was married to an openly Jewish woman named Leah Nadler.

*The U.S. Ambassador to the U. N., John Bolton, is a Zionist Jew.

The covert goal of the World Health Organization is to decrease the population in all countries of the world, especially the third world, by 1) vaccinations that CAUSE rather than prevent disease, 2) forced birth control, abortion and sterilization, 3) manufactured famines by weather control (creation of droughts), terminator seeds (seeds that don’t produce seeds), and withholding of meaningful medical care during pandemics, such as the AIDS pandemic in Africa.

“Food is Power. We use it to change behavior. Some may call that bribery. We do not apologize.”

Catherine Bertini, Executive Director U.N. World Food Program Beijing, China, U.N. 4th World Conference on Women, September, 1995

Zionism – 1) Jewish Zionism, and, 2) Christian Zionism:

Jewish Zionism: Zionism represents itself as a political movement concerned principally with the establishment of a state in Palestine to be controlled by and for Jews. It began in the late 19th Century and attained its stated objective with the creation in 1948 of the state of Israel by the United Nations (at the insistence of the United States and without the agreement of existing Middle Eastern states). Subsequently Israel doubled the amount of territory it controlled by means of its illegal occupation of the West Bank in the 1967 and 1973 wars.

This is what the average Jew believes about Zionism.

In its current form, Zionism seeks to dominate all of Palestine and the Middle East by means of violence and the threat of violence (using weapons manufactured and purchased with billions of dollars of “aid” supplied by the United States), and to maximize its influence in world affairs and in world history, principally by means of control of the government of the US (primarily by blackmailing its many corrupt politicians), at the expense of the social well-being not only of the Palestinians but of the peoples of all lands.

But Zionism means something very different to the leaders of International Jewry. They know full well that it is a plan to control the entire world, merge all corporations, businesses and financial houses into their hands, destroy all dissidents, and enslave those who are left. Their plan is to eliminate 5.5 billion of the world’s population by forced birth control, abortion, manufactured famines, manufactured pandemic diseases, war, executions, and other ways as revealed on this website.

    * Jewish Zionism is the First Beast of Revelation, Chapter 13.

Christian Zionism: Many Christians, particularly Evangelical Christians, believe (incorrectly) that the present-day “Jews” in Israel and the other Jews around the world (the Diaspora), are God’s “Chosen People.” They support the Israelis brutal treatment of the Palestinians and Israel’s attempt to build the third temple on the Temple Mount. By so doing, they believe that they are “hastening the return of Jesus Christ.” (Please see “Who is the Church? Who is Israel?”)

This false doctrine of the Evangelicals, called “Dispensationalism,” originated primarily from the Scofield Bible. But now mainline Christian Churches are embracing this error, and the Bible predicts that the “whole world will follow after the Beast.” (Revelation 13:3)

    * Christian Zionism is the Second Beast of Revelation, Chapter 13.

UK media receives more state aid than France and Italy

It’s well known among nationalists that newspapers (and MSM in general) has caused an enormous amount of damage to British society and their every influence is negative, however what you probably do not know is, that you are subsidising them.

    According to Press Gazette.

The UK Press receives hundreds of millions of pounds in indirect subsidies from the Government and has one of the highest levels of public funding in Europe, according to a new report.

A study by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ) claimed that in 2008 the UK press received £594m of indirect support in the form of VAT-exemptions for copy and subscription sales in the UK.

And it also suggests that the government should look at extending VAT-exempt status to digital news outlets.

Together with the BBC licence-fee, the UK media received a level of government support that outstrips even the likes of France and Italy, countries traditionally considered to have a more ‘interventionist’ approach to state funding of the media.

The study, written by Dr Rasmus Kleis Nielsen with former Reuters editor-in-chief Geert Linnebank, looked at six countries: Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the US, and the UK, and three forms of public sector support for the media: licence-fee funding, indirect support in the form of tax breaks and VAT-exemptions and direct support.

Using figures for all six countries from 2008, in terms of euros-per-capita he found the UK spent €68.2 on public service media and €12.2 on indirect press support, which was behind only Finland (€71.7/€58.9) and Germany (€88.5/€6.4).

The figures were well ahead of the US (€2.6/€2.6) and Italy (€28/€9.4) and slightly higher than France (€48.6/€12.9).

The latter two also give direct funding to newspapers but even when these are taken into account they are still behind the UK, claimed Nielsen.

“Contrary to received wisdom that paints these countries as having the most expensive system of subsidies, they have only the fourth (France) and fifth (Italy) highest levels of total intervention, considerably lower than the other three European countries,” he said.

He continued: “The scale and scope of public support for the media is sometimes surprisingly opaque.

“While direct funding for both the public service media and private sector media is usually documented in detail, the very considerable extent of indirect support provided primarily for the printed press is less well documented and rarely subject to scrutiny.

“The arrangements in place have historically helped the press increase its reach, helped smaller publishers survive, and helped bigger ones increase both their profits and their potential to do public good.”

    ‘Extensive’ media subsidies

Nielsen claimed that all developed democracies in the West – even “supposedly free-market orientated ones like the United States” – give “extensive” subsidies to the media, be it direct or indirect.

In the US, in 2008 it was estimated that $1.18bn went to various forms of public broadcasting – coupled with a further $1.2bn in tax breaks and reduced postal rates.

Nielsen believes current arrangements discriminate against online-only news outlets, claiming that in the six countries researched “there is no public support for online-only organisations”.

“All the forms of support examined… are inherited from the twentieth century (or before) and heavily orientated towards supporting long-established media organisations like public service broadcasters and private paid newspapers,” he said.

“While some speculated at the advent of the twenty-first century that these would quickly become irrelevant, this has not been the case. Though many are suffering under severe economic pressures, most remain important and influential.”

He added: “Though people do access more and more content online, it is important to keep in mind that the news and entertainment they enjoy there is still in most cases produced by legacy media companies.

“Therefore, the main beneficiaries of present forms of public support for the media remain of absolutely central importance to the provision of widely accessible accountability journalism in all six countries covered here.”

If newspapers were to begin paying VAT on copy and subscription it could have a potentially disastrous consequences, according to the study.

In the 1990s – when newspaper sales were far healthier than today – research by PricewaterhouseCoopers suggested introducing 6 per cent VAT on British newspapers.

Nielsen argued this would have meant “the end of most regional dailies and a drop in circulation for the national press of at least 10 per cent”.

    Policy review

The study is calling for a more open approach to government support for the media to avoid discriminating against online news.

“Every passing year increases the tensions between public service media organisations and their commercial competitors online, every drop in circulation undermines the ability of VAT relief and their like to underpin private sector media companies,” he said.

“We therefore think it is time to review and renew media policy arrangements and bring them in line with the principles purportedly behind them with the times we live in.”

Nielsen said it could also help iron out some of the anomalies in the current system.

The UK’s biggest-selling regional newspaper – Express and Star in Wolverhampton – charges £2.34 a week for a newspaper, online and mobile subscription package.

But, as highlighted on its website, “due to UK tax laws, VAT applies to the digital-only package, bringing the cost to £2.81 per week. Sorry, blame George Osborne.”

The only publications exempt from VAT under UK law are those that “consist of several large sheets folded rather than bound together, and contain information about current events of local, national or international interest’”.

Nielsen added: “It is not yet clear whether and how this can be extended to include relevant enterprises primarily based on other platforms.”

    Public support for the media:

(Public service media funding; indirect press subsidies; direct press subsidies)

    Finland: €381m; €313m; €0.5m
    France: €e3bn; €801m; €438m
    Germany: €7.3bn; €525m; NA
    Italy: €1.7bn; €560m; €161m
    UK: €4.2bn; €748m; NA
    US: €779m; €804m; NA
Why are we paying to enrich wealthy tycoons like Rupert Murdoch and Richard Desmond, surely they can pay VAT on their useless rags, after all if they improved the quality of their publications more people would buy them even though they would have to pay more.

Maybe this report underestimates the amount of indirect subsidies received by newspapers.
The Guardian, for example, gets much of its income by publishing job vacancies in the public sector although the same vacancies could be advertised for free on the internet.

Nonetheless, in spite of these indirect subsidies, British newspapers are losing readers and money.
Maybe the solution to their endless smears, lies and spin lies in forcing them to pay VAT, a move that would help to raise more revenues without cutting essential services.
